Friday- 6th August, 2021: Football megastar Lionel Messi has opened talks with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) manager Mauricio Pochettino over a potential move to Paris.
This followed his exit from Barcelona on Thursday. The Argentine is now a free agent.
Messi opened talks with PSG according to The Athletic after he got in touch with his fellow Argentine, Pochettino on Thursday evening.
The move triggered further discussions between the two parties.
It is understood that PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is now leading the talks.
The French club appears concerned about being able to afford Messi’s wages.
PSG are spending big on Sergio Ramos, Georginio Wijnaldum, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Achraf Hakimi.
This apart from Neymar and Mbappe.
However, PSG are said to be seriously considering a deal for Messi, exploring the commercial benefits that signing him could bring.
