The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) may have tactically given the National Sports Commission (NSC) conditions before national teams can prosecute the continental and international matches at the Abuja National Stadium, warning that security and other logistics must be guaranteed.

Only recently, both the Sports Commission and the Super Eagles caretaker head coach, Stephen Keshi had certified the stadium pitch to host next month’s Africa Nations Cup qualifier tie against Sudan.

However, in a swift reply to the request, the General Secretary of the football federation, Barrister Musa Amadu, told SoccerStar recently that the condition for the federation granting such request would be an assurance that the players and officials of both the home and visiting teams including the spectators must be guaranteed.

According to the federation’s chief scribe: “The Abuja National Stadium is undoubtedly the best in the country. We also know that the National Sports Commission (NSC) has worked tirelessly to ensure that the stadium is ready for continental and international matches.

“If there is the need for all national team matches to be played in Abuja, and we look at all the logistics around the proposal, we will definitely give it a very good thought.

“However, the most important thing here is for us to be able to play our matches in an atmosphere, where security is guaranteed for the visiting team, the Nigeria national team and the spectators. We must have to play those matches without any hitches whatsoever,” he warned.
