Imo Police nab notorious ex-Soldier for armed robbery, kidnapping

The Tactical team of the Imo State Police Command, South East Nigeria have apprehended a 35-year old suspected kidnapper who claimed to be a dismissed Soldier.

The suspect who identified himself as Godwin Chukwuemeka  AKA “Match and Die” was picked up inside the ceiling compartment of his residence.

According to the command, the team stormed the hideout of the suspect along the Owerri Nekede Axis in Owerri West local government  Area of the state to arrest him.

A statement issued by the Senior Assistant, Media, to the Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro, CSP Mike Abatam weekend in Owerri said  the notorious kidnapper is alleged to be a dismissed soldier of the Nigeria Army.

According to him, on interrogation, the suspect confessed to be part of the hoodlums that attacked the Imo State Police Command Headquarters and Correctional Centre, Owerri early this year.

The statement revealed that Items recovered from the suspect: include a cut to size double barrel gun, a black browning pistol, two live cartridges, One expanded cartridge, Military camouflage and Desert boots.

The command also warned members of the defunct Imo Security Guards to return all the arms/ammunitions and cartridges in their possession while they served as operatives of the defunct Imo Security Network in various local government areas.

He said such items be returned to the nearest Police Station or to the State Police Headquarters Owerri, Imo State commencing from Friday, 18th of June 2021 to Wednesday 30th of June 2021, unfailingly.

“The command warns in strong terms that any defunct Imo Security Guard personnel who refuses to return his arm within these stipulated dates will attract severe consequences.
