Thursday, 20 May 2021: Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade, has dumped the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP), for the All Progressives Congress, (APC).

Seven Governors elected on the platform of the APC had on Wednesday night stormed Calabar, the Cross River State capital, for a meeting with Ayade.

Among those that met with Ayade over dinner on Wednesday were the Governors of Imo, Ekiti, Plateau and Yobe States, Hope Uzodinma, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Simon Lalong and Mai Mala Buni respectively.

CEOAFRICA recall that Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State had earlier threatened to defect from PDP.

Reports have it that the visiting governors who were in Calabar to woo the ‘new bride’ to APC arrived Calabar at about 7:30pm.

Confirming the development to CEOAFRICA was Ayade’s spokesman, Christian Ita, on Thursday.

Ita told The Eagle Online: “It is true.
“It just happened now.”

The development indicated that the APC is making another in-road into the South South zone having lost its only governor, Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki to PDP last year.
