Anambra North women recommend Oduah to run for Senate

An organisation of women from Anambra North Senatorial zone of Anambra State has called on the immediate-past Minister of Aviation, Mrs. Stella Oduah, to contest next year’s election to the Senate.

The women that met on Tuesday at Awkuzu, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra, also inaugurated local government coordinators in support of the senatorial aspiration of Oduah.

The local government areas in the zone comprise Anambra East, Anambra West, Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Ayamelum, Oyi and Ogbaru.

The women signed a communiqué adopting her as their preferred choice for the senatorial election for Anambra North Zone.

While appreciating the women’s support for Oduah, a former PDP Chairman in the state and Director-General, Stella Oduah Campaign Organisation, Chief Pandolla Okwuosa, expressed satisfaction with the overwhelming response showed by the women of Anambra North Central Zone irrespective of their party affiliation and urged them to continue to support the former minister to improve the lots of women in the zone.

Okwuosa remarked that it will be an added value and advantage to the women folk and the generality of the people of the area if she eventually heeded their call to contest the forthcoming National Assembly election in 2015.

According to him, Oduah as an individual had exhibited good leadership qualities and as the Minister of Aviation by upgrading facilities at many airports across the country, especially the transformation of Akanu Ibiam Airport, Enugu to an international airport and posited that such a feat and even more would be achieved if she eventually bows to pressure to contest.

In their separate remarks, Anambra East coordinator, Stella Oduah Campaign Organisation, Mrs. Uju Ezuike and her counterpart from Ogbaru Local Government, Mrs. Njideka Ezeigwe pleaded with the former Aviation Minister to heed the voices of women from the zone to contest the 2015 Senatorial Election.

They added that Oduah’s antecedents and achievements as a minister were living testimonies of positive things to come if she is given the mandate to represent the zone in the National Assembly.
