
His Grace, Most Rev. Leke Abegunrin , Archbishop Of the Catholic Archdiocese of Ibadan
The Catholic Diocese of Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria celebrated the 2014 world communication day, yesterday 26th of May at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Alagbede, Ede; with the theme: Bishop's Forum.
While addressing the press, the Archbishop, His Grace, Most Rev. Gabriel Leke
Abegunrin lay emphasis on why world communication day should be celebrated. He implore press men to be objective in communicating to people.
"Let's treat our press men very well, they are the link of communication we have got" the Bishop advised.
According to Rev. Fr. Thaddeus Olaolu Ajayi, priest of Osogbo Diocese, speaking with CEOAFRICA reporter,said it is a great celebration, since 1956, Catholic universally have been celebrating this day till this moment; it is to appreciate the gift of communication, and also to appreciate what God is doing through human communications.
"Because of communication, the world has become a global village" he said. The Church sees it as a great one because God himself communicate to men. "Every year we celebrate this day, we also challenge the communicators to communicate the truth, peace, unity, so that there would be progress in the world as a whole” He furthermore highlighted that this is the 48th year anniversary of world communication day.
According to Rev. Thaddeus, he said the celebration avails the people the opportunity to have a chat with him, it comprises of questions from the people and answers by the Archbishop. This shows the humility of His Grace as a loving shepherd, that has a listening hears to his congregation. "You don't need to sign papers or knock on doors before you can access him; he is a man of the people" he said.
"The world communication day enables everyone to learn more from the question and answer session to increase in the knowledge of God. He advised that if our leaders can be accessible as His Grace, Most Rev. Leke Abegunrin , the world would be a better place for all.
The Archbishop advised all to be a living model of sanctification in our generation, nation and congregation.
