The Coordinator of Joint Media Campaign Centre (JMCC) of the Joint task force (JTF), at operation polo shield bayelsa, Lieutenant colonel, Mustapha Anka has debunked the rumour about the presence of Boko Haram in Baylesa State.

He made this known during a press briefing yesterday in Bayelsa that the rumour on presence of Boko Haram Terrorist Group in Bayelsa State which prompted the closure of schools and students send back home, is not only false but misleading information capable of causing panic among the good people of bayelsa. He explained that “The closure of the schools in Bayelsa state is in line with a directive credited to the National Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) Mr Micheal Olukoya directing its members in Nigeria to stay out of classroom today May 22 2014 to protest the killing of their colleagues by Boko Haram Terrorist and abduction of over 200 Girls of Government Secondary School Chibok in Borno state by Boko Haram Terrorists Group.”

The JTF urged good people of Bayelsa and general public to go about their normal businesses without fear as the Command is working assiduously in collaboration with other security agencies to protect lives and properties in the state.

He also commented on the recent fire incidence at NNPC pipelines jetties at Okirika Rivers State by Movement of Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND). He stated that “the JTF wish also to state here that MEND was among the Militant Group that accepted Federal Government olive branch of Amnesty Offered by late President Umoru Musa Yar’Adua. Those masquerading as MEND to perpetrate all kinds of atrocities in the Niger Delta are pipeline vandals and illegal oil bunkerers who in the process of rupturing the oil pipelines cause the out brake of the fire that gutted the jetties of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). They are criminals and renegade militants seeking relevancy in the affairs of the Niger Delta.  The JTF is on the trail of the criminals responsible for the explosion and will soon round them up to face the law.”
