Six months after they failed to impress at IAAF World Championships Sprinter, Gloria Asumnu and quarter miler, Regina George returned to Moscow at the weekend to post impressive performances six months after failing to make it to the finals of their respective events at the 14th IAAF World Championships.

Asumnu ran 7.30 seconds to win her heat before improving further to 7.26 seconds to place second behind LaKeisha Lawson of the USA (7.21) in the women's 60m at the Russian Winter indoor meeting, the second of this winter’s IAAF Indoor Permit meetings.

Reigning IAAF Worlds double silver medallist, Murielle Ahouré of the Ivory Coast holds Africa's best mark in the event at 6.99 while Chioma Ajunwa (7.02) holds Nigeria's best mark in the event.

In the 400m, George, who ran all the way to the semi-final of the event and set a new personal best (50.84) at her IAAF Worlds debut in Moscow last August was again impressive, running 52.20 seconds to place second behind USA's Natasha Hastings (51.69) who ran in the finals of the event at the World Championships last year.

George holds a 51.05 personal best in the event.

Charity Opara holds Nigeria and Africa's best mark in the event at 50.73 set in Stuttgart, Germany on February 1,1998.

In the men's events, Leoman Momoh was disqualified in the 600m.
