Owing to incessant killings and destruction of properties on people especially farmers in parts of Kaduna State, The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has called on the Federal Government to redouble its efforts at stopping the killings caused by herdsmen.

According to ceoafrica, the call was made by CAN President, Rev Olasupo Ayokunle, in Abuja on Wednesday.

Ayokunle said the attacks which had occurred in 25 villages in southern axis of Kaduna state, was accompanied by destruction of properties.

He however called on the current administration and the state Governor with security agencies to cooperate together in order to ensure peace in the state.

He lamented the level of normalcy claimed to be existing, by saying “It is not okay to just say all is well, all is not well; we are not infants, we are adults, killing continues up till now.’’

Supporting the call made by the CAN president, victims, who spoke through CAN’s secretary, Godogodo Zone, Rev. Chawangon Nathan, said the problem started on May 26.

Nathan said that it had since degenerated, adding that herdsmen, who the media described as ‘unknown’, had brought down no fewer than 25 villages in southern Kaduna.

He added that the victims knew the herdsmen that entered their area for the operation but the security operatives refused to arrest them.

The attacks according to Nathan left 102 people dead, 215 people injured, coupled with lands destruction and survivors displacement.
