President Bola Tinubu has extended warm birthday wishes to the Minister of Works, David Umahi, as he marks his 63rd birthday, praising him as one of the most outstanding and hardworking members of his cabinet.
Umahi, a former Governor of Ebonyi State, was born on July 25, 1963, and turned 63 on Saturday.
In a statement issued by the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu lauded the minister's unwavering commitment to delivering quality infrastructure, describing him as a passionate public servant dedicated to constructing durable roads and bridges that will serve Nigerians for generations.
The President also commended Umahi's passion, dedication to duty, and strong sense of patriotism, noting that his hands-on approach to project supervision has distinguished him in the administration.
According to Tinubu, the Works Minister does not merely depend on reports from aides but regularly embarks on inspection tours across the country to personally monitor ongoing road projects and ensure contractors adhere to approved standards and specifications.
"As a minister, he does not just sit in his office or rely on reports from subordinates; he is constantly on the road, personally monitoring construction work nationwide to ensure compliance with specifications and approvals," the President said.
Tinubu urged Umahi to sustain the momentum by accelerating the construction, rehabilitation, and completion of critical road infrastructure in line with his administration's Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at improving the quality of life of Nigerians and stimulating economic growth.
The President also congratulated the minister and his family on the occasion, praying for good health, greater strength, and continued wisdom as he serves the nation.
Before his appointment as Minister of Works, Umahi represented Ebonyi South Senatorial District in the Senate after serving two consecutive terms as Governor of Ebonyi State from 2015 to 2023, where he earned recognition for his infrastructure-driven administration.
