Ten less privileged youths from Makera and Kakuri districts in Kaduna State upon completion of a one year Skills Acquisition Programme (SAP) organized by Total Nigeria Plc. yesterday received complete starter packs to start up their own businesses.
According to CEOAFRICA’s source, Daily trust, apart from the starter packs which include all tools needed for each business including fashion and designing, computer business centre, welding and fabrication, hair dressing among others, the company also paid two years shop rent in advance for the beneficiaries to help support the sustenance of their businesses.
Graduands of welding and fabrication were presented items including: welding machine 500amps, filing machine, table drilling machine, set of gas cylinder, accessories for gas, spindle, guage, hose, 12KVA diesel generator; safety water, helmet, boot, mask and overall, vice and clamp, rub it machine, work table, general workshop tool, caliper, punch, hammer and disc, tool box, first aid box, fire extinguisher, welding tong and cable, jack, chain block, electrode, leather hand glove,welding shield for electric welding, welding goggle, standard overall branded with Total logo, leather apron and grinding goggle.
Speaking while presenting the starter packs to the graduands at the Total Lubricant Blending Plant in Kaduna yesterday, the Managing Director of the company, Jean-Philippe Torres described the SAP as a sustainable youth development scheme where less privileged youths of the company’s host communities are trained in vocations of their choice.
