The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, on Thursday, dismissed report that the commission tortures detained suspects.
Speaking while taking reporters on an inspection tour of the commission’s facility in Abuja, Magu said the agency would continue to ensure that proper investigation was carried out before arresting and detaining suspects in its facilities.
The EFCC czar, explained that the commission conducted proper investigation and background checks before arresting a suspect.
Magu said, “We do not torture people as is being speculated, we do proper check on people before inviting them over.”
He further stated that the commission’s detention facilities “are the best in the country and stand out when compared to other such facilities in most West African countries”.
