The Controller General, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mr. Martins Abeshi has retired & handed over to Muhammed Babandede on acting capacity.

Prior to this development, the acting CGI , Babandede was in charge of  Operations & Passport  Directorate .

Spokesperson of the Nigerian Immigration Service , Mr. Ekpedeme Kings made this disclosure yesterday to CEOAFRICA

Recall that Abeshi was appointed in September last year shortly after his predecessor, David Paradang was sacked by the federal government .

Though there were rumours prior to Abeshi’s retirement that the federal government may have sacked him, CEOAFRICA Friday had barely 24 hours after his appointment  to replaced Paradang , reported exclusively that , Abeshi was due for retirement in December 2015 and had already been slated to proceed on a three-month terminal leave beginning from October .

Although reasons for his retirement were not immediately disclosed, CEOAFRICA gathered that the sudden decision may not be unconnected with series of queries he received from the minister of Interior, General Dambazau over  his alleged handling of the recent replacement in the service.

Reports has it that the replacement, which was terribly abused by power brokers in the country, saw the now retired CG allegedly employing his third wife and his eldest son into the service.  Both recruits were said to be undergoing training in Kano.
