
Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State at the weekend disclosed that his administration had within 10 months in office paid 13 months arrears of salaries owed by the immediate past administration in the state.
Governor Lalong gave the hint on Saturday at this year’s annual Kiim Tehi festival held at Tunkus in Mikang Local Government Area of Southern senatorial district of his state.
Represented at the event by Barrister Festus Fuanter, his Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Town Planning, the Plateau State governor told the people of Mikang Local Government Council of his state the mess his administration inherited would require extra hard work to clean up.
He assured the people of the locality that as soon as things take shape, the people would be comfortable with his administration and would not regret voting him into power in the state.
“We inherited seven months backlog of salary arrears but within 10 months, we were able to clear the back log” he said and assured that payment worker’s salary would be given priority in his administration.”
He solicited the corporation of all in the state to enable his administration to surmount the problems inherited from the last administration. ?
Mr. Vuelgap Ezekiel Pabuet, Management Chairman of Mikang LGA, commended Governor Lalong for tackling challenges of insecurity headlong through dialogue and consultation with relevant interest groups, associations, traditional rulers, politicians which as a result, the state is now enjoying relative peace.
He said: “I have held tenaciously to the five pillars policies of the rescue administration of the Lalong led government in Plateau State geared towards good governance, accountability, and provision of security to the citizenry.”
In a similar vein, Hon. Yakubu Dati, General Manager, Information and Communication of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and former Commissioner for Information in the state, who hails from the locality, admonished his kinsmen to support President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Lalong to succeed in their quest to develop the country and state.?
He appealed to Governor Lalong to come to the aid in Mikang people by providing potable water, rural electrification, access roads and to built healthcare in various communities to improve the standard of living of the people.?
