Former Nigeria coach Sunday Oliseh will no longer appear before the House of Representatives Committee on Sports until after the two African Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Egypt in Kaduna and Alexandria later this month.

The two games against the North Africans are billed for Kaduna on Friday, March 25 with the return game holding four days later in Alexandria.

“The meeting has been moved so that the Nigeria Football Federation can focus fully on the Egypt matches,” an official told Africanfootball.com.

Oliseh, who spoke with The PUNCH, confirmed the change of date and that he would be in Abuja to give his own side of the story.

“I will be in Abuja. I just didn’t want to make any public statement but what can you do than to respond when you are invited by such level of people,” he said.

Meanwhile, as the country prepares for the game on March 25, Nigeria striker, Odion Ighalo, who ended his goal drought by scoring against Arsenal in an English FA Cup game on Sunday, said on Monday that he would be ready for the Egyptians. The striker limped out of the match against the Gunners but has explained that it was only a minor knock.

He said, “It’s not true that I was injured. I was taken off as a precautionary measure by the coach. There’s nothing to be worried about as I’m fit.”

He also spoke on the Egypt game.

“We know what is at stake and we will not disappoint. We have to win to brighten our chances and personally, I believe to qualify for the Nations Cup is top priority for us.”
