Mathieu Flamini will leave Arsenal at the end of the season after being told he will not be offered a new deal.

The Frenchman hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons on Tuesday night after conceding a penalty just 47 seconds after coming on as substitute in the 2-0 defeat to Barcelona.

Flamini is keen to stay at the Emirates Stadium beyond the summer and wants a new 12 month deal.

However, the club have not opened discussions with the former AC Milan man about an extension with Flamini now set to leave on a free transfer this summer.

Having started the season as an outcast, the 31-year-old has been thrust back into Arsene Wenger's plans during the last few months due to a host of injuries in central midfield
