The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, says his throne will promote the growth and development of tourism in the country.

Ooni said this during a courtesy call on the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, Mr Carlos Trejo in the presence of Dr Sally Mbanefo, the Director General, Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) on Friday in Abuja.

The Ooni, who is the youngest Chancellor in Nigeria, also promised to facilitate collaboration between NTDC and the Republic of Cuba.

“I will ensure that NTDC collaborates with the Republic of Cuba to strengthen and grow domestic tourism in Nigeria and to develop it to international standards.

“By the time the collaboration is done, Nigeria will become a tourist haven,’’ the Ooni said.

The Ooni also prayed God to strengthen Mbanefo to promote domestic tourism to boost economic growth in Nigeria.

On her part, Mbanefo commended the Ooni for facilitating the collaboration.

The Cuban ambassador also thanked the Ooni and Mbanefo for the visit.
