The United States has described the terrorist attack on Chibok on Wednesday, January 27, by the Boko Haram sect as “senseless.” This was contained in a statement made available to Naij.com on Thursday, January 28, by the United States Embassy in Abuja.

The statement reads: “The U.S. Embassy condemns the multiple suicide attacks against the Chibok community on Jan. 27. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims. The United States remains committed to supporting Nigeria’s fight against these senseless acts of terror.”

Similarly, the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) on Tuesday, December 22, said the activities of the Boko Haram sect in the Northeastern part of Nigeria and neighbouring countries of Cameroon, Chad and Niger has resulted in the close down of over two thousand schools.

This explosion is coming as President Muhammadu Buhari is on a three-day visit to Kenya where he is expected to discuss with his counterpart in the East African country on how to tackle terrorism.
