
The Catholic Arch Diocese of Ibadan paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Olubadan of Ibadanland Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade on Monday.
The delegates led by Most Reverend Dr Gabriel Abegunrin (Arch Bishop of Ibadan Catholic Archdiocese), extolled the virtues of the late Oba, he was described as a man of peace, unity and as a monarch who had the progress of Ibadan land at heart. He was also described as a man who encouraged inclusive governance; he welcomed ideas and contributions from everyone as long as it was towards the progress of Ibadan land.
According to His Dr Abegunrin, the late Olubadan was “a man of peace who wants everyone to contribute to the development of Oyo state, May God grant his soul eternal rest, protect his family and the entire people of Ibadan land.’’
He also described him as a great man of valour who made a huge impact on the Christian community in Ibadan; his reign was described as a peaceful and progressive reign in the city of Ibadan. His Grace, Emeritus ArchBishop Felix Job, who was also part of the delegation described the late Olubadan as a very good believer whom he had known for quite a long time before his demise.
During the visit, a prayer session was conducted for the family of the late Oba and for the entire people of Ibadan land and by extension the nation Nigeria.
Speaking on the vacuum left by the demise of the late Olubadan, Dr Abegunrin said his prayer is that God will assist the people of Ibadan in the appointment of a good leader who will bring peace and joy to the community like the late Olubadan did, he urged people to emulate the late Olubadan of Ibadan land because he was indeed a peaceable man and a man of integrity.
