British movie and TV star Alan Rickman has passed on. He died in London, he was aged 69.

The acclaimed actor has been in the forefront of British television in the past 30 years until he succumbed to cancer on Thursday, January 14, 2016.

His death was confirmed by close associates and family members.

He reportedly died “surrounded by family and friends”.

Rickman is famed for his ‘relaxed’ expressions in movie appearances. He shot into limelight after appearing in Die Hard – a mpvie by Bruce Willis which was shot in 1988. He was 41 at the time.

He further gained global acclaim following his appearance as Professor Snape in theHarry Porter films.
