Nollywood actress, Nkechi Blessing Sunday, has announced her return to acting after her celebrity boxing debut ended in a knockout defeat to reality TV star, Phyna.
The actress faced Phyna in a celebrity boxing bout held at the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos, as part of Balmoral Promotions’ ‘Chaos in the Ring’ event.
Although she lost the fight, Blessing described the experience as a bold and memorable one, revealing that she had only trained for two days before stepping into the ring.
In a post on Instagram on Friday, the actress said she remained proud of herself despite the outcome.
“Still a CHAMPION regardless of the result… even the blind knows who the winner is,” she wrote.
“Now let’s go back to making movies cus I no be boxer.”
Blessing, however, said the defeat had not completely ruled out another appearance in the ring, admitting that she would be open to boxing again.
“Will I do this again? OH YES,” she said in another post.
Reflecting on her debut, the actress said she had never fought anyone before but found the courage to step onto the stage and face the challenge.
She described herself as having “fought like a warrior” despite being in unfamiliar territory.
Blessing also dedicated the experience to her late mother, Gloria Obasi Sunday, saying she wanted her mother to be part of the occasion.
“Mummy were you watching? Did you also hear when they played your favorite song? I wanted you around that was why I asked for that song,” she wrote.
The actress expressed appreciation to Balmoral Promotions and Bet9ja for giving her the opportunity, describing the boxing experience as one she would always remember.
