The rerun governorship election in Ogbia Local government of Bayelsa State commenced Saturday morning as thugs disrupted the accreditation exercise at Otuopoti community in Ogbia Local Government area of the state.

At Oguta-Otuopoti unit 1 located by the riverside, Vanguard gathered that thugs invaded the polling unit while INEC officials were setting up their tables for the exercise.

The thugs also snatched INEC voting materials and threw them into the river before soldiers shot into the air to scare them away. The materials were later retrieved from the river.

However, at Otuokpoti Ward 2 Unit 15, also in Ogbia, the atmosphere was peaceful, as voters turned out in their numbers. As at 9:45 am accreditation had begun.
