Taraba youths celebrate Ex Ag. Gov Garba Umar at 68

Youths and various political groups in Taraba state are rolling out drums today (Saturday, 19th) to celebrate a former Acting Governor Garba Umar UTC for his 68th birthday celebration

The youths under the umbrella of Taraba State Students and Youths Movements, TSSYM said its decision to celebrates the former acting governor was in appreciation his giant strides in area the of education and youth development during his tenure.

TSSYM Coordinator, Joseph Auta said Umar has shown over the years that he’s a worthy mentor to thousands of youths in Taraba State.

“His commitment towards youths development and education was glaring during his tenure as chief executive of the state.

“Reactivation and construction of the College of Nursing which was abandoned for over four years and effecting completion to over eighty percent, employment of 170 staff for the Board of Internal Revenue and recruitment of 170 graduate and non-graduate indigenes for training at the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria. NAPTIN, boasted youths engagement in the state,” Auta said.
He added that Umar also paid three years backlog of scholarship in tune of N230 Million to Taraba Students in various tertiary institutions in the country.”

Auta said the youths will be holding an online discussion and symposium in the state capital to celebrate the former acting governor.

Also Coordinator of the Taraba Peoples Assembly TPA, Martins Andekin said close associates of the former acting governor will be gathering at his personal residence in Jalingo to discuss his ideology and political achievements in the state.

Describing Umar as an apostle of peaceful coexistence, Andekin said Garba Umar influence cut across ethnic and religion divided because of his contribution to development of the state
