Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has expressed confidence that his players will secure the three points against Dinamo Zagreb and strengthen their chance of qualifying for the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League, while confirming Francois Coquelin's long-term absence..

Arsenal are third in group F with three points and need to win their two remaining games to guarantee qualification into the next round.

Speaking ahead of the game in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Wenger stated that Arsenal should have done better in their first meeting against Dinamo which they lost 2-1.

“We were unlucky on the day as we played with ten men but we should have got a better result," he said.

"We got caught on the counter-attack and at a set piece. Let's focus on what we can do.

“The players like to compete at the top. We have the ability in the squad to do that.”

He lamented the spate of injuries that has affected his team, hinting that he might be forced to get busy during the January transfer window.

"I must say we have been hit very hard in November. We have lost a few players.

“I’ll do what’s needed in January even though in January it is not an ideal transfer market.”

He also revealed that Francis Coquelin will be out for two months, hinting that Callum Chambers might be called upon to replace the injured French midfielder.

"I'm always cautious. It will be at least two months (Francis Coqueline) but I don't want to speculate more than that."

“We have players that can play in [Coquelin’s] position. Chambers has been educated in that position.”

The French tactician went on to clamour support for Rafa Benitez, following Real Madrid's 4-0 loss to Barcelona.

“I would just like to take this occasion to support Benitez who is an outstanding manager.”
