
The people of the ancient town of Ile-Ife were on Monday in jubilation after Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi from Giesi Ruling House was named the Ooni-designate by Ife kingmakers and the Osun State government.
A group of jubilant crowd, was sighted carrying a large portrait of Prince Adeyeye marched to his family house, along NTA Road, Mukoro area of Ife, to rejoice with the family.
Responding to questions from journalists, the Ooni-designate’s father described Prince Adeyeye as a child who always demonstrated special attributes that stood him out of his seven children. He stressed that the title of Ooni had been revealed to the family before the birth of the prince, saying that he would become the Ooni.
The father however assured the people of the ancient city that his son would pursue peace, unity and progress of people of Ife.
Also, former Special Adviser to Osun State governor on Youths, Sport and Special Needs, Hon Biyi Odunlade, an indigene of Ife, told journalists that a new era had come to the ancient town with selection of a youthful monarch.
Odunlade urged the other three ruling houses, which includes, Lafogido, Osinkola and Ogboru to embrace peace and work together for the progress of Ife.
While speaking with CEOAfrica correspondent at the Ooni’s Palace, the Laadin of the Ife Traditional Council, Chief Adetoye Olatunde Odewole, dismissed insinuations by other ruling houses that kingmakers didn’t follow due process in the selection process.
