Indomie Announces Independence Heroes, Cash Award

Dufil Prima Foods, maker of Indomie Noodles has announced 2015 Independence Heroes. The heroes were unveiled at a ceremony in their honour in Lagos recently.

Abbas Naifarya, a 13 year old SS 2 student of Federal Government Girls College, Kazaure, emerged the overall winner and ‎was awarded a scholarship of ₦1million.‎ ‎ Nairfaya who is an indigene of Kano State, won the award for the courage and exemplary  act she displayed when she alerted state authorities of a suspicious object she noticed beside a mosque, thereby saving scores of people from bomb blast.‎

Innocent Yamawo 5 and Naja Nuhu 12, emerged second and third place winners and were awarded the sum of N750,000 and N500, 000 respectively‎.

The event was graced by top government officials, captains of industry, traditional rulers, members of the diplomatic corps, celebrities as well as students.

In his welcome address, Group Managing Director, Dufil Prima Foods, Mr. Deepak Singhal, reiterated the company’s commitment to helping the Nigerian child.

He said, “As a company, we believe that in every child lies the seed of greatness. This is in consonance with Indomie’s core values. This award mirrors the importance and belief of our company in the extraordinary qualities of the Nigerian child which must always be celebrated”. ‎

In her keynote address titled, “The Nigerian Child: The Hope of a Nation”,  Founder, LEAP Africa, Mrs. Nwuneli, emphasised the need for the empowerment of the Nigerian Child.

She said, “It is apparent that for any nation to develop economically there is need to improve the nation’s human capital by investing heavily on education”.

The Indomie Independence Day Awards for Heroes of Nigeria (IIDA) is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility programmes of Dufil Prima Foods, geared towards recognising children between the ages of 1 and 15 who have exhibited extraordinary acts of heroism in the face of danger or societal challenges.
