The Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia (NCZ) has distributed more than 71,000 tonnes of D Compound to 75 districts in the country.

NCZ chief executive officer Zuze Banda said on Wednesday in Kafue that the institution has so far distributed 71,404 tonnes of D Compound to the districts.

Mr Zuze was speaking at the NCZ plant when Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry Permanent Secretary Siazongo Siakalenge conducted a tour of the plant.

"We have so far produced 72 737.65 metric tonnes and delivered 71, 404 metric tonnes to 75 districts.

NCZ was contracted to produce and deliver 106 409.75 tonnes by Government for the 2015/16 farming season.

Mr Zuze said NCZ had also engaged institutions in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to deliver ammonium nitrate.

The firm was able to distribute more than 40,000 tonnes of ammonium nitrate.

NCZ had engaged Solar Explochem and Orica to buy the product, while Africa Explosives Limited has been mandated to pick ammonium nitrate.

The expected revenue from producing ammonium nitrate was K300 million.

Mr Siakalenge said NCZ deserved to be commended for performing well.

He said the company had a capable management to drive it to become a base of producing and distributing ammonium nitrate to the Southern region.

He said the institution should take advantage of financial institutions that had now developed confidence in the firm to get funding. He urged management to remain steadfast.
