Oshiomhole’s 7-man electoral c’ttee meets with 19 Bayelsa APC gov aspirants

GOVERNOR Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State led a seven-man Electoral Committee, yesterday to meet with the 19 governorship aspirants of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Bayelsa State, over the guidelines to be used for party’s governorship primaries in the state holding today.

Besides the aspirants, other stakeholders of the APC in the state also attended the meeting.

Speaking, Oshiomhole told the aspirants that the primaries should be taken as a family affair stressing that the rules on the conduct of the primaries were not different from those used in Kogi State, and the national   primaries of the party.

According to him, 1,508 delegates were expected to vote during the primaries including two Board of Trustee members of the party; former Governor Timipre Sylva and the Deputy Publicity Secretary of the Party, Mr. Timi Frank.

Oshiomhole also announced Samson Siasia Stadium, as venue of the primaries and that open ballot system of voting would be adopted while international passports and voter’s cards will be used for identification of delegates.

He, however, warned aspirants against involvement in issue of cloning of voter’s cards.

He said: “The party will deploy card readers to authenticate the voter’s cards presented by delegates. If anyone is involved in the act, we will ensure he or she is arrested. Cloning of cards is a criminal offence. The sponsor of such act and those caught with the cloned cards will be arrested.

“The election is a family affair. The family is meeting to deliberate on who can be entrusted with the party’s flag to contest the  December 5  election.”
