The Principal of Christ the King Catholic College, Reverend Father Patrick Balogun has said that the duty of academic and character formation should be everybody’s business and not just the private and religion organisations’.

Father Patrick stated this during a press conference earlier this week, to kick start the 20th anniversary of the college, which will come up in October in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

Fielding questions from Journalists about controlling students’ character, the principal described set rules and regulations as the college’s guide.

“We have set rules that must be strictly adhered to by parents, members of staff and students. If parents can adhere to it and the members of staff could not do otherwise, why should the students do otherwise?”

According to him, the success of future leaders depends greatly on the government’s assistance in the provision of basic amenities.

“The government should try as much as possible to provide the expected enabling environment to make the private school function effectively.

"The government need to add value to education in order to set priorities right in education sector. They should consider the capital funding of education irrespective of the school students are attending,” he said.

Father Patrick also unveiled the church’s interest in supporting the government.

In his words: “The church is very ready to support government’s initiatives in attending to the historic formation of students with the goal of building a better society.”

The principal however, enjoined the government to assist the school financially, in order to make students better citizens in the future.

Father Patrick said Christ the King Catholic College' achievement in academic excellence in the past 20 years, would not have been possible without the support of the parents and students of the institution.
