It was revealed in a press release exclusively made available to CEOAFRICA that the operation which was carried out in the afternoon was based on a tip-off of the group’s proposed meeting at Oneh Primary school, Asaba.
Immediately after the arrest, a team of detectives headed by the AC CIID, conducted a screening exercise. Eleven of them suspected to be the ring leaders are still undergoing further investigation and possible prosecutions while the rest including women and children were warned and released.
Items recovered from the suspects include Biafra freedom song CD plate, group photograph showing members of the group United Nation’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People, document containing Biafra National Anthem, documents containing World latest vote on Biafra, one Sony camera, and a book titled Agueleri: The pivot of the Bani-Israil in Nigeria.
DSP Celestina Kalu in the statement reiterated the Command’s commitment toward providing a peaceful atmosphere for the enhancement of democracy and therefore advised the general public to desist from fraternizing with such outlawed groups in order to avoid the wrath of the police.
