Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Oyo State chapter has called on Governor Abiola Ajimobi to wake up from his slumber and set machineries in motion to ensure the well-being of the people of the state.
The state PDP chairman, Chief Olayinka Taiwo in a statement in Ibadan, noted that people have been groaning under the weight of economic hardship foisted on them by the present administration in the state.
According to the party, the alleged inactivity of the state governor ever since his inauguration for another term in office is a poor development for the state.
Mr Yinka flayed the governor for running a one-man show and running the economy of the state down as a result of his failure to appoint commissioners and others who would administer the state.
While reminding the governor on the PDP’s call to him on assets declaration, the party lauded the governor for heeding the party’s advice on reduction in the expenses for running the government by reducing the number of ministries.
However, he said the governor had no excuse for the current inactivity that has grounded the state and brought untold hardship to the people of Oyo state, because he ran the state for four years and should have a reasonable blueprint for its running by now.
“Our party views the inactivity in governance in the state more than a month after the second term inauguration of the governor as a bad development.
“It is quite worrisome that Governor Ajimobi, after four years in office, is still comporting himself like a first term governor, who would have excuses about learning the ropes or sabotage from predecessors. We sincerely hope that this governmental slow motion is not going to ruin Oyo State; as workers continue to be owed and the economy continues to suffer.
“We call on the governor to wake up from his post-election hangover; elections are over and it is time for him to deliver the promises he made to the electorate,” he said.
