The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged Datti Baba-Ahmed, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate’s running mate, to move on from Peter Obi’s decision to contest the 2027 presidential election with Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as his running mate.

Theo Abu Agada, the NDC Director of New Media and Strategic Communications, made the call in a post on X, accusing Baba-Ahmed of repeatedly attacking and undermining Obi following the announcement of his running mate.

Agada said Obi, who is the NDC’s presidential candidate for the 2027 election, had made what he described as an “idealistic and pragmatic” decision in choosing Kwankwaso.

“Since the presidential candidate of our great party, the NDC, His Excellency Peter Obi, made the idealistic and pragmatic decision to choose His Excellency Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed has been going from one platform to another, attacking and undermining him,” Agada said.

He further expressed confidence that the NDC would improve the standard of living of Nigerians if elected into government in 2027.

“The NDC will raise the living standards of Nigerians far better than the APC is doing,” he said.

Agada consequently called on Nigerians to support the party’s candidates in the 2027 general elections, saying the NDC was committed to delivering better governance and improved living conditions.

“Datti needs to move on. Obi has made his decision, and Datti should respect it,” he added.
