Three people have been killed on the N3 at Hammersdale in KwaZulu-Natal in a collision between a truck and a car.

KwaZulu-Natal Road Traffic spokesperson, Zinhle Mngomezulu, says the crash took place in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Mngomezulu says both lanes are closed.

Meanwhile, one person has been killed and 17 taxi passengers sustained serious injuries when a taxi collided with a minibus on the N3 south bound near Paradise Valley.

Mngomezulu says the injured were taken to R.K Khan Hospital for treatment. “One person died on the scene and 17 others sustained serious injuries in a side-drive collision between a taxi and a VW Golf.”

“The cause of the accident is unknown at this stage. The injured were taken to RK Khan Hospital.  One count of culpable homicide is investigated. There was an obstruction on the road-way however the road has been cleared now,” she says.
