The reported death of more than 71 persons has led to the a clampdown on local, nature cure hawkers.

The death toll was recorded in the Niger-Delta region as a result of the consumption of locally brewed gin known as “kia kia”.

The police and military men yesterday swung into action in the Federal Capital Territory and stopped “agbo sellers” from hawking their wares (“agbo” is a herbal mixture taken to heal various ailments)

CeoAfrica reporter gathered that this move by President Mohammadu Buhari “is because “agbo” is sometimes mixed with “kia kia” dry gin. The step is avert any likely loss of life that might occur because of the dry gin.

Mr Wahab, who lives in Gwagwalada area, said, “I am not happy with this development because I like taking the herbal mixture.”

Another  man, who does want his name to be mentioned, said he could not do without taking it and wondered how he would cope.

Iya Bose, a popular “agbo” seller at federal housing junction, Lugbe, confirmed  the development, and told our reporter that, indeed, the police did not allow them to move around to sell “agbo” to their customers.
