
President Buhari travels to South Africa for AU Summit

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Saturday leave Nigeria for Johannesburg, South Africa, to participate in the 25th African Union Summit. Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, disclosed this in a statement on Friday. “President Buhari would be undertaking his first continental assignment since his inauguration on May 29 by chairing the meeting of the Peace and Security Committee of the AU summit on Saturday,” Adesina said. He added that Buhari would also be holding a number of bilateral meetings that will consolidate his ongoing drive to secure Nigeria and the neighbouring countries from Boko Haram. Buhari will return to Nigeria on Tuesday morning.
