Arewa Youth Forum on Tuesday threw its support behind Alhaji Abdullahi Mukhtar for the chairmanship of National Hajj Commission, saying those kicking against his appointment were only scared of the innovations he would introduce to the operation of hajj in the country.
Speaking to LEADERSHIP in Abuja, the President of Arewa Youth Forum, Gambo Gujungu noted that as director of operation in the Commission, Alhaji Mukhtar ensured the policies and operation of the Commission conformed to standard practices, adding that under him, it would be no ‘business as usual.’
Gujungu called on the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, which is currently screening candidates for the chairmanship of National Hajj Commission to consider track records of the candidates, adding that in doing so, the members of the committee would discover that Alhaji Abdullahi is quite outstanding in service.
“Abdullahi Mukhtar has been given several awards by Saudi Kingdom for his outstanding performance. What is more, he has also been given national honour by the Nigerian government.
“We are calling the senate committee to look at his records and achievements. We have no doubt that he will do the Muslim Ummah, National Hajj Commission and the country proud. Let us put politics and sentiments aside and give the job to who has the ability, capability and potential to deliver. And no one else fits into this position than Abdullahi Mukhtar,” Gujungu added.
