The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Ogun state has chided the Federal Government for not doing the needful in addressing the alleged criminal case involving the Ogun East Senator-elect, Prince Buruji Kashamu, in the United States of America.

The students body added that allegations of wrong-doing in the United States against Kashamu has been flying about, yet the President Goodluck Jonathan- led Federal government has not deemed it fit to legally compel him to face his charges in the US.

The Chairman, NANS Joint Campus Committee in the state, Ogunsola Okikiola  and President, Ogun State Youth For Better Nigeria, Ogunsanya Babatunde, made this known to reporters in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital in a statement they jointly signed.

The statement further said “the government’s passive attitude towards the issue seriously erodes the moral values of the nation as well as questions its commitment to tackling high-level crimes in the country”.

The duo specifically berated the judiciary and the Nigeria Police for not living up to expectation over Kashamu for allegedly dilly-dallying in taking necessary legal steps to extradite him to answer the allegations in US.

Meanwhile, Kashamu had since dismissed the allegations as false, deliberate persecution and a case of mistaken identity.

He said he was not the one wanted in the United States for criminal related matter, adding that a sitting court in the United Kingdom had equally acquitted him of any wrong doing.
