Following the receipt of a circular with reference number INS/2108/130, dated March 10, 2015 from the Oyo State Ministry of Education, notifying heads of tertiary institutions in the state that the state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has approved 65 years retirement age for non-teaching staff of state-owned tertiary institutions, the Provost of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, Professor Gbemiga Adewale, has thanked the governor for yielding to the yearnings of the non-teaching staff in the state.
He advised the non-teaching staff to reciprocate the government’s kind gesture by increasing their productivity and competence on the job. He added that they should endeavour to make their impacts felt on the job instead of counting years without any meaningful impact.
Also reacting to the development, the Chairman, Non Academic Staff Union (NASU), Comrade Kunle Aderogba, described the government’s kind gesture as a landmark achievement.
He maintained that it was an accomplished struggle.
The SSANIP chairman, Comrade Adedotun Ogundeji, also thanked the state government for the love extended to the non-teaching staff like that of their counterparts in other states.
He then charged the staff members to complement the government’s kind gesture by increasing their productivity.
One of the staff members who is also a beneficiary of the 65 years retirement age, Mr Adesope Luqman, expressed appreciation on behalf of other beneficiaries to the governor.
