AHEAD of 2015 general election, the Federal Civil Service Commission has warned the civil servants in the country against engaging themselves in partisan politics.

Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), Deaconess Joan Ayo, who gave the warning on Monday, in Abuja, said partisan politics should be left for the politicians.

She spoke at a two-day stakeholders’ workshop on Performance Management System (PMS) for top echelon of the Federal Public Service  at the State House conference hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Ayo called on the civil servants to adhere strictly to the code of conduct as enshrined in the civil service rule.

She reminded the civil servants not to indulge in politics, adding that they were free to resign their appointments if they found politics more rewarding.

Meanwhile, the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (HoS), Mr Danladi Kifasi, speaking on the occasion, listed some of the gains of PMS as introduced by the current administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Kifasi disclosed that the specific objective for introducing the PMS into the civil service, was to support institutional structures  for managing the Individual, team and organisational performance.

He noted that PMS would similarly assist government in transforming the service into a result - oriented one for effective public service delivery.

Kifasi in his keynote address, said the initiative to design and implement  PMS emanated from the fact that no single institution could deliver performance outcome in isolation of other levels of government.

He added that the policy arose from the recognition of the lack of a comprehensive system that could motivate excellence, achievement of results, enhanced productivity and accountability whether at institutional or individual levels.
