Governor  Babangida Aliyu of Niger State, has urged Nigerians, particularly his northern compatriots, not to be deceived by the oppositions’ campaign of calumny, but to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan  in the forthcoming general election.

Aliyu, exchanging views with one of the GEJ/Sambo Campaign Groups in Minna, in his office ,on Monday, said with the many achievements, many northerners now appreciate the need to show support for a second term of the incumbent government.

The governor said he was happy that the northerners now appreciated the fact that the single term presidency signed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, is not in the interest of the north as it would only shortchange the region’s political representation at all levels of governance.

The APC presidential candidate signed a pact with the party that he was running for a single term of four years, which Aliyu, argued would mean shortchanging the north as it would be the turn of the region  in 2019.

Promising to work with the group and any other who had the interest of Nigeria and the north in particular at heart, towards ensuring success for President Jonathan and Sambo in the March 28 election, Aliyu said he was ready to work with the groups and any other toward ensuring victory of the party.
