The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) election result announced in the wee hours of Saturday was greeted by protest by some of the delegates who were not contended with the outcome of the result.

Comrade Joe Ajaero of the National Union of Electricity Employees, NUEE, who was a presidential contestant in the election, expressed dissatisfaction with the way the election was conducted

Other labour leaders that have rejected the election results included the two Deputy Presidential candidates, Comrades Isa Aremu and Igwe Achese alongside members of their unions.
They had alleged that the election was skewed to favour some candidates.

The retuning officer and pioneer General Secretary of NLC, Dangiwar Aliyu while announcing the results, declared that Waba pulled 1, 695 votes of the 3115 votes to defeat his main rival, Joe Ajero from the Nigeria Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) who pulled 1, 140 votes. 3119 delegates from 43 affiliate unions of the NLC were accredited for the election.

But the aggrieved members also lamented that some delegates from the South South and South East were disenfranchised to favour other ‘anointed’ candidates who would cover ugly track of some executive members.
