The Super Eagles
The Super Eagles have moved up one spot to 41st in the latest FIFA ranking, which was released on Thursday
Nigeria polled 701 points to move up from 42nd to 41st in the World and seventh in Africa.
The Eagles have the chance to move up the ranking next month if they get favourable results in their next two friendly games against Bolivia and South Africa.
Algeria are still Africa’s highest ranked team, they are ranked 18th in the world, while 2015 Africa Cup of Nations winners Ivory Coast are second on the continent and 20th in the world.
Ghana, Tunisia, Senegal and Cape Verde are the other African countries ahead of Nigeria in the latest ranking, which still has Germany as the number one football playing nation in the world.
FIFA said seven friendlies were played since the last edition of the ranking, five of them in the North, Central America and Caribbean zone. The majority of changes are a direct result of a devaluation of past results, it added.
