Nigeria 2015: 78 per cent of voters given PVCs – INEC

The Independent of National Electoral Commission has given at least 54,377,747 persons registered for the 2015 general elections their permanent voter cards.

The figure, being latest as of February 27, represents 78.93 per cent of the 68,833,746, being the total number of voters registered by INEC.

The figure indicates three per cent increase from the last collection rate reported two weeks ago.

The electoral body made the revelation, Friday, in a statement signed by Kayode Idowu, the Chief Press Secretary to Attahiru Jega, the Chairman of the Commission.

According to the statement, a total of 67,205,600 PVCs have been delivered to states nationwide. 

The statement also reveals Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Katsina, Taraba and Zamfara States have exceeded 90 per cent collection rate.

Abia, Adamawa, Enugu, Kano, Kebbi, Niger, Sokoto and Rivers State have over 80 per cent collection rate.

The states that have over 70 per cent collection rate include Anambra, Benue, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Imo, Kwara, Ondo, Osun, Plateau and Yobe States.

Others, consisting of Bayelsa, Borno, Edo, Ekiti, Federal Capital Territory, Kogi, Lagos and Oyo States, have over 60 per cent collection rate.

Ogun state still has the least collection rate with 44 per cent.
