Dr Olusegun Mimiko assumed office in 2009 and got re-elected into office in 2013.

To his credit, the government has broken new grounds in governance, especially in the area of education, health, urban renewal and community development, among others.

The Governor reminded the people at the inauguration of his second term in office that he promised to work for them and that he delivered on his promise. He also mentioned all the projects he embarked upon in the state with tangible proofs to authenticate his claims.

As part of his government’s resolve to provide affordable and qualitative education in the state from primary to tertiary level for instance, the Mimiko-led government introduced mega schools and other initiatives in the education sector.

He has received several commendations for his ability to revolutionise the sector by building mega schools with no parallel in Africa.

At a record of over 50 scattered across the three senatorial districts in the state, the mega schools come with free school buses, uniforms, sandals, bags and books, alluring architecture, electro-magnetic chalk boards and the computer laboratory with 50 internet-ready computers for Type 1 schools.

To the credit of the government, Dr Mimiko introduced the only Quality Education Assurance Agency in the country. It is involved in maintaining standards and setting parameters in all the agencies and departments of government in the state.

The Safe motherhood programme introduced by the government has also earned it global recognition, and now a model in the continent of Africa.
