The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in Oyo State, Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin on Sunday celebrated valentine with the less privilege and the physically challenged in Oyo State. He described valentine as a day specially set aside to remind ourselves of the great
commission to go forth and love one another. He said he decided to celebrate with them at his residence in Oluyole Ibadan because he perceived them as the most affected of our hard times.
“I can feel hunger everywhere in our dear state, and I want to assure my people that my Government will ensure food surplus in the land. Food security is key to good government and our vast land mass can readily guarantee that. Staple crops like cassava, maize, yam and other foods
should not be out of reach of the common man” he said.

 Folarin promised to achieve this by empowering the farmers in the state more than ever so that they will be motivated to work. He stressed that motivation is pivotal in this case as researches have shown that motivation increases productivity. He pointed out that the provision of modern farm tools and hybrid seedlings will make a magnificent difference in production of food for supply.  In addition to this, he said the availability of reputable agricultural agencies like IITA, NIHORT, CRIN and others in the state are not just for the fun of it. ‘’We have a blueprint on how to partner with them to form a synergy with the local farmers to achieve our operation feed Oyo State’’ he said.

The PDP gubernatorial candidate further said he will consolidate on his “operation feed Oyo State” by establishing farm produce storage facilities for different crops and embarking on massive urban-rural road construction to facilitate transportation of these produce across the State. He further said that if the issue of hunger and other social issues can be taking care of, there will be less work for the security agencies and the society will be better for it. This in other ways will have multiplier
effect on other sectors as foreign investors will be here to provide employment for all.

In response to the gesture of love extended to them by Folarin, the spokesperson — Mr Olarewaju Adeyemo, who spoke on behalf of others said Teslim Kolawole Folarin is a rear gift to Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole. “With you we are sure of better days ahead in Oyo State, you are a man we can trust, We pray that God will continue to keep you in order to take Oyo State to her pacesetter status in Nigeria’’.
