Nigeria’s Falconets have booked their place in the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in emphatic fashion, thrashing New Caledonia 10-1 in their final Group F fixture in Poland.

The Nigerian youngsters produced a dominant display at Stadion Miejski ŁKS Łódź, taking a commanding 4-0 lead into half-time before adding six more goals after the break.

Ramotalahi Kareem opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 17th minute, while Rebecca Adegbemile doubled Nigeria’s lead just two minutes later.

Seimeyeha Akekoromowei made it 3-0 in the 23rd minute before Kareem struck again in the 27th minute to complete a blistering first-half performance.

The Falconets continued their attacking onslaught after the restart, with Winner David scoring in the 60th and 75th minutes.

Kareem completed her hat-trick in the 64th minute, while Tosin Rafiu added Nigeria’s seventh in the 70th minute. Adegbemile then grabbed her second four minutes later.

New Caledonia scored a consolation goal through Joceline Kourevi in the 89th minute, but Nigeria responded by seeing out a comprehensive 10-1 victory.

The result propelled the Falconets into second place in Group F and secured their passage to the knockout stage, where they will face England.

Nigeria had struggled to find their footing earlier in the tournament, losing 2-0 to Spain in their opening fixture before playing out a goalless draw against China.

The draw earned the Falconets their first point of the competition, despite creating several chances against China.

Spain topped Group F with nine points and had already secured qualification for the Round of 16, while China had entered the final round of fixtures on the back of a 5-0 victory over New Caledonia.

The Falconets will now turn their attention to England as they continue their quest for a deep run at the tournament.
