Residents of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, have taken to the streets to protest alleged ‘one-chance’ attacks reportedly targeting commuters across the city.

Despite the rainfall, the protesters gathered for a peaceful demonstration, with some of the participants said to be victims who survived alleged attacks involving criminals operating in commercial vehicles.

The demonstration also attracted residents who joined in solidarity with the victims and to demand urgent intervention from the relevant authorities to curb the reported incidents.

Carrying placards and chanting slogans, the protesters expressed concern over what they described as a disturbing rise in criminal activities across the state capital.

They called on the government and security agencies to intensify surveillance and security operations on major roads while taking decisive measures to protect commuters.

The protesters marched from Boro Camp Junction towards the Rivers State Government House and the Rivers State Police Command Headquarters.

At both locations, they are expected to present their demands for safer roads, improved security and an end to alleged ‘one-chance’ operations in Port Harcourt.
