A barber in Umuahia, Abia State, has been arrested over allegations that he used the hair of his customers for ritual purposes after police reportedly discovered a clay pot filled with human hair in his residence.
The suspect, identified only as Emeka, was apprehended after officers allegedly found the pot stuffed with shaved human hair inside his one-room apartment in Umuahia.
The discovery followed a complaint filed by the suspect's neighbour, Mr. Johnson Ikenga, who reported to the police that Emeka had threatened him. Acting on the complaint, police officers conducted a search of the barber's residence during the arrest.
The search reportedly uncovered the clay pot containing human hair, along with other items described as fetish objects.
During interrogation, Emeka reportedly admitted that the pot belonged to him but was unable to explain the purpose of the items or how he obtained the hair found inside it.
The suspect was subsequently taken into custody by officers from the Central Police Station, Umuahia, as investigations continue.
Authorities have not yet announced any formal charges, and the allegations remain under investigation.
