The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for entry-level positions across Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10 and 12.
According to a notice published on the commission's website, the online application portal opened on Monday, July 20, and will close on Monday, July 27.
INEC said the recruitment is part of efforts to strengthen its workforce and enhance its capacity in electoral administration, voter registration, data management and election logistics to ensure the effective discharge of its constitutional responsibilities.
Interested applicants are required to complete their applications online by creating an account on the commission's recruitment portal, filling out the application form and uploading all required credentials.
The electoral body emphasized that the recruitment exercise is completely free of charge, warning applicants against submitting false information or forged documents. It cautioned that anyone found guilty of such acts would be disqualified and could face prosecution.
The available vacancies are divided into three categories.
For the Professional Cadre (Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12), positions available include Accountant, Clinical Officer, Lawyer, ICT Officer, Engineer and Quantity Surveyor.
Applicants for these positions must possess a bachelor's degree or its equivalent and, where applicable, a master's degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized institution. They are also expected to have relevant professional certifications such as NBA, COREN, NSE, NIQS, ICAN, ANAN or CPN, a minimum of two years' post-qualification experience, an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, as well as strong analytical, communication, problem-solving and ICT skills.
For the position of Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) – Grade Level 08, candidates must possess a bachelor's degree, Higher National Diploma (HND) or an equivalent qualification in the Social Sciences, Humanities or Sciences from a recognized institution. Applicants must also present an NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate and demonstrate competence in data management, record keeping and Microsoft Office applications.
Applicants seeking the position of Executive Officer (Registration Officer) – Grade Level 07 must possess a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or its equivalent from a recognized institution, along with sound knowledge of computer operations, data management, communication and organizational skills.
In addition, all applicants must present a valid certificate of state of origin signed by the chairman or secretary of their local government, be medically certified as physically and mentally fit by a government medical officer, and must not be above 35 years of age at the time of application. Candidates must also be of good character, have no criminal record, be willing to serve in any part of the country, and demonstrate integrity, discipline and commitment to public service.

Required documents include a recent passport photograph, birth certificate or declaration of age, O'Level result, Degree, HND, ND or NCE certificate, Local Government identification certificate, and NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate where applicable.
Applicants are advised to carefully review their applications before submission, as INEC stated that once a vacancy has been selected, it cannot be changed.
The commission added that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the next stage of the recruitment process.
