A group of Nigerian youths on Tuesday staged a protest at the Federal High Court in Abuja, demanding the immediate release of African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore.

The protesters gathered at the court premises ahead of proceedings in Sowore’s case, chanting slogans and calling for his freedom.

Sowore is currently being held at the Kuje Correctional Centre following a court order remanding him in custody.

The court had fixed June 30, 2026, for ruling on an application filed by Sowore seeking the restoration of his bail and the setting aside of a bench warrant earlier issued against him.

Presiding judge, Mohammed Umar, adjourned the matter after all parties adopted their respective processes.

During the protest, demonstrators repeatedly chanted, “Free Sowore now. We want a better Nigeria,” while urging security personnel at the court entrance to support efforts aimed at improving the country.

The protesters said their actions were motivated by a desire to see a better Nigeria that future generations can enjoy.
